Memorizing vocabulary and being prepared for geography can be combined to power-up valuable study time. Several resources make this approach even easier. Use current textbooks, the library, and online sites for free access to the geography vocabulary needed to learn.
Geography Textbook Glossary
At the back of most geography texts is a glossary. The glossary is a list of specialized words needed to know in order to understand the subject matter. Although some of the words will be specific to geography and unlikely to be included on a standardized test, there will be some overlap. Checking a site or book containing a list of standardized test vocabulary words will assist in discovering which words overlap with geography lessons.
Study the glossary words as though they were other vocabulary words, using the most personally effective methods. Many glossaries include page numbers where the entry word can be found in context, which can help in understanding and remembering difficult words.
